چکیده

Background: Given the fact that viral infections play an important role, either directly or indirectly, in around 20 percent of human cancers, this study aimed at investigating potential association Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) and cytomegalovirus (CMV) esophageal cancer is sixth most common cause cancer-related deaths. Methods: In case-control study, a total 200 paraffin-embedded biopsies cancerous benign tissues were gathered from biopsy bank Imam Reza Hospital, Tabriz, Iran 2017. All samples first deparaffinized, then subjected to commercial DNA extraction. The quality extracted was evaluated by amplification beta globulin gene. Identification EBV CMV performed using primers designed for EBER region immediate early (IE) genome, respectively. Results: mean age subjects test control groups 52.2 (17.1) 59.9 (18.9), distribution gender (male/female) patient 54/46 53/47, Our results showed frequency (P < 0.001) statistically higher than group. Moreover, group rate significantly adenocarcinomas (EAC) sample (12 out 70) squamous cell carcinomas (ESCC) (0 30) = 0.016) but, ESCC group, 17 30 positive which comparison with EAC patients (1 0.001). Conclusions: Findings indicated might be contributed pathogenesis types carcinoma, respectively, although further studies are warranted.

Human Cytomegalovirus: Infections and Diagnosis

Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) is a ubiquitous virus whose sole host is humans. Since HCMV can contagion from person to person through numerous ways, vast populations of humans are infected. HCMV infections can potentially have a range from asymptomatic infection in immuno-competent hosts to life-threatening diseases in organ recipients and patients with AIDS. The present article reviews the occu...

Prevalence and association of human papillomavirus 16, Epstein-Barr virus, herpes simplex virus-1 and cytomegalovirus infection with human esophageal carcinoma: a case-control study.

Recent research shows esophageal carcinoma (EC) as the ninth most common malignancy in the world. The association of viral infection and EC has been reported in the last 30 years. However, geographic variation in infection rates and the key mechanisms of the viral action have yet to be resolved. This study aimed to determine the prevalence and association of human papillomavirus 16 (HPV-16), he...

Epstein–Barr Virus and Cytomegalovirus Infections

Epstein–Barr virus and cytomegalovirus are members of the human herpesviruses that have an extremely high seroprevalence in all populations studied. The initial infection is usually asymptomatic, or causes a febrile illness, but can rarely manifest itself neurologically. These viruses are increasingly important in the modern era of immunosuppression, whether due to AIDS or in the transplant or ...
